Zannie Sheridan- The 21st Century Australian Poet

“Whilst I was reviewing the various websites and blogs on the Internet I happened to come across a very talented Australian Poet. I think she deserves to be published......Cyrus”

Zannie’s Brief:

I have been writing poetry all my life, but since I have retired from nursing I have been taking my writing more seriously. I am studying MA (Writing) at Swinburne University of Technology, Faculty of Higher Education, Lilydale, Vic. Australia.

My poetry has many voices. They speak on areas as diverse as personal experiences, global destruction, fantasy and the ordinary surprises and humour in life.

I have two poetry blogs, Ripples, http://zannie-rambling.blogspot.com which has examples of my reflective poetry, and The Gypsy Rambler http://zannie-rambling.blogspot.com which has examples of the rest.

The city of Melbourne is my stamping ground, I live about 10 minutes walk from the CBD. I have four adult children and nine grandchildren, and share an apartment with my dog.

A Storm Coming In

Listen to the wind
As it beats across the Bay
The song that it is singing
Has an off-key kind of tone
Can you feel its icy fingers?
Does it chill you to the bone?

Can you hear its message?
What language does it speak?
Is it bringing advance warning?
Does it penetrate your brain?
Is it heralding a tempest
Or just a gentle rain?

Does it bring a chill prediction
Of another crazy war?
Or is it just an awful echo
That I hear from ‘cross the Bay
Of the whisperings of warcries
That this wind can’t whisk away?
